General reminder

RMB exchange

As mentioned in the First Circular, the team leaders and contestants will be transported to their respective accommodation from the airport, and the contestants’ hotel is not convenient for foreign currency exchange. There are two solutions, first, change money in the airport with unfavorable rate, second, the leaders change money in the urban area and give to students during the opening ceremony.

RMB is Chinese official currency, the standard symbol is ¥. 1 US dollar is roughly 6.5¥.

Weather and temperature

Beijing has a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate. The temperature in early November is 0 to 10°C. The opening ceremony is outdoor in 4th November morning, and it will last about 2 hours. Please dress accordingly.

The contestants’ accommodation is in Yanqing district, elevation is 500 meters. It’s usually about 4-5 degrees colder than the urban area, with potential low temperature reaching -5°C during the outdoor observation round!
